Just over 2 million passengers travelled through Dublin Airport in August, a 4% decline on the same period last year, according to the Dublin Airport Authority.
Passenger volumes to and from continental Europe fell by 2.5% with over 1.1m passengers travelling on these routes last month.
UK traffic recorded a 5% decrease with more than 647,000 passengers travelling in August.
Passenger numbers on domestic routes declined by 40% with just over 32,000 passengers taking domestic flights last month. Transatlantic traffic to North America declined by 5% with almost 175,000 passengers travelling on this route sector in August.
Other international passenger traffic, principally flights to the Middle East, increased by 13% to almost 27,000 last month.
More than 12.5 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport so far this year, a 12% decline over the same period last year.
However, stripping out the impact of ash cloud disruption, and other one-off factors, the underlying decline in passenger numbers for the first eight months of the year was less than 9%.
