Award winning airline Monarch is delighted to announce the launch of additional services to Sharm el Sheikh and Gibraltar this summer in response to huge customer demand, in addition to brand new flights from Gatwick to Majorca in the Balearic Islands, which take to the skies this week.
The additional flight from Gatwick to Sharm el Sheikh will operate each Thursday between 9th September and 28th October 2010 and will bring the total number of flights operated by the airline from the UK to the Red Sea resort to six per week.
Flights to Gibraltar will also be strengthened with an additional flight to Gibralta from Manchester each Sunday between 12th September and 31st October 2010, complimenting existing services from Luton and Manchester and bringing the total number of flights per week to ‘The Rock’ to 11.
Sunday 17th July also saw the launch of Monarch’s new scheduled flights from Gatwick to Majorca, which will operate three times a week and brings the total number of services flown by Monarch to the island to 23 per week. The flights will operate in addition to existing flights from Birmingham, Luton and Manchester airports.
Commenting on the additional services, Managing Director of Flights and Holidays, Tim Jeans, said, “We have seen huge demand for flights to Sharm el Sheikh and Gibraltar this summer and have responded by adding these additional services to meet this demand.
“We are very excited to be expanding our services to Gibraltar as a new terminal at the airport, which opens next summer, will see better facilities for customers and an enhanced travel experience.
“We are also delighted to be launching our first scheduled operation between Gatwick and Majorca in response to a surge in demand for the Western Mediterranean this summer. We already have a successful programme of flights to the Island from our other UK bases and I am confident that our new service from Gatwick will prove to be equally popular with customers.”
