Today, talks are to begin about the strikes that look set to cause major disruption to UK airports in January.
BAA employees have voted to stike against the closure of the salary linked pension scheme to new employees. All of them believe this to be unfair. Fire crews and security staff are also set to be involved in the strike.
Airports affected in the strikes will be Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Southampton.
On January 7th and 14th there will be 24 hour strikes with a further 48 hour strike on January 17th.
BAA believe that the strikes are unnecessary and are going to talk to union members about a different plan of action. Otherwise, thousands are set to have their holidays disrupted.
