Crane at Heathrow crash siteThe British Airways Boeing 777 has been moved from the southern runway after crashing just short of it at London Heathrow on Thursday.

The 200-ton aircraft suffered engine problems and is thought to have come down after electronics failed.

Electronically controlled platforms had to move the plane which took several hours. Moving the plane on its 500m journey to the engineering base at Hatton Cross then took a further 2 hours.

The aircraft has been moved to keep it in fairly good condition and to let engineers examine it properly to find out the definite cause of the crash. It is also being moved so that flights can be carried out as normal and delays and cancellations can stop.

There have still been delays today, however normal service is hoped to be resumed by the end of the week.
