Bmibaby is making a bid to take over the slots at East Midlands Airport that have been freed after easyJet announced that they were withdrawing from the base.
The airline hopes to boost its presence at the airport by 40% by adding eight new routes from the airport and basing 3 more aircrafts there.
easyJet claimed that they were leaving the airport due to the excessive fees that they were charging.
The eight new routes that could be offered by bmibaby are Alghero, Barcelona, Bastia, Cork, Dubrovnik, Malta, Newquay and Venice.
The airline also plans to extend its Palma service from the airport to its winter schedule and have year-round services to Geneva and Prague.
Bmibaby are welcoming the new routes as they want to provide more low-cost flights with a high-quality service to passengers at East Midlands.
