Representatives from Cardiff Airport visited a local comprehensive school this month to give a talk to approximately 160 year seven students on how an airport like Cardiff works.

The talk at Llantwit Major School was part of the airport’s partnership with the ‘Passport Scheme’, which aims to support pupils on their move from primary to comprehensive schools.

The project enables pupils to be involved in monitoring their progress and involvement in school life, and also involves the people who are key to their development including primary and comprehensive school teachers, parents and guardians.

Cassie Houghton, one of the speakers and Cardiff Airport’s marketing and PR manager commented: “The airport is proud to be associated with such a successful scheme that is certain to be of great benefit to local children.

This was a great opportunity to explain to a younger audience how a business that’s based a stone’s throw away from the school works, what we do and what it’s like to work at an airport.

It’s important for us to establish a good working relationship with our local community as many of these children, teachers and parents are the airport’s future passengers and employees.”
