_42408805_grant_dane1.jpgThe recent chaos concerning baggage at terminal 5 is reported to be costing BA £16 million.

More than 400 million flights in total have been cancelled by British Airways since March 27th and now BA are having to deal with the costs of re-booked flights, baggage sorting, hotel bookings and loss of revenue from passengers who changed to fly with another airline.

It has been predicted that problems could go on until the summer meaning in total BA will be spending £100 million.

A full schedule of flights however are now expected in Terminal 5 after a number of cancellations.
Last week, 30,000 bags were waiting to be cleared but today that number is down to 14,000. BAA chief’s are now worried that the recent chaos has seriously affected the airport operator’s reputation.

BA now plan to postpone the Terminal 5 advertising campaign until the recent events have calmed down.

They are confident that when things have calmed down and the right campaign is underway that people’s trust in them will be restored and Terminal 5 can be successfully re-launched.
